Resistance comes in myriad forms

Fadi Abu Sada-PNN - There has always been a debate on methods of Palestinian resistance, the most intense being between the armed and popular resistance, but sometimes the approach of diplomacy is the most hotly contested. The debate was sparked again this week after Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad announced his document, “End the Occupation and Establish the State of Palestine.” It talks about strategic projects and the readiness of institutions to enable Palestinians to declare their own state.

 
Christians, like all Palestinians, want to live in freedom

Fadi Abu Sada- I have always been proud of being a Palestinian Christian, born and raised in Bethlehem, the holiest town in all Christianity.

Even before the start of the first intifada, when I was ten years old and before knowing about Christianity and Islam, I knew that two of my uncles were in Israeli prisons along with a couple of young guys from my neighborhood. I was very proud of them. They were in jail for resisting the occupation by reading and educating themselves.

 
Media in their eyes

Fadi Abu Sada- The role of the Palestinian media is as critical internally as it is insignificant internationally. The key function it fills in Palestinian politics was illuminated when Hamas and Fateh chose the issue to be discussed in their first meeting as part of the national reconciliation in Cairo.  They both agreed to stop what they referred to as negative media campaigns in order to create a positive atmosphere for real reconciliation.

Goodbye to our friend and colleague Ala’ Murtaja

Fadi Abu Sada – It was clear that Ala’s mother was very frightened when we telephoned her at home to ask for journalist Ala Murtaja. He was a part of our live radio show, “We are all Gaza,” that is broadcast by our network, PNN United.

When people become numbers

Since the attack on Gaza started on December 27, local and international media outlets in the Arab world, and international news agencies have been busy counting - the number of dead and injured and the number of missiles fired. Fadi Abu Sada director of the Palestine News Network, asks what happens when people become only numbers in a news briefs, leaving the real stories in Gaza to fall on deaf ears?
